Google had provided an excellent Service Called PageSpeed to Speed the Site by Optimizing the Loading of the Following,
Inline small resources
Prioritize Content - https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/pss/ProxyResources.html#ProxyCSS
Optimize HTML
Optimize Images
Optimize CSS
Optimize Javascript
All you had to do is subscribe to Google AppEngine's Developer Console and then Deploy the same. Most important use of this was in serving "jquery" and CSS scripts of the website
However, Google Pulled the Plug and the service is going down from August-2015. Can't really rely on Hostgator now to serve the entire pieces of the Web.
