Microsoft continues to face challenges around remaining relevant with developers and end-users that could impact its highly profitable Windows client and enterprise server / cloud businesses. Most tangibly, alternative platforms continue to become reference architectures for development on client (iOS, Android, Chrome) and server / cloud (AWS), making it more difficult for Microsoft to monetize proprietary software.
