Idea focus this fiscal was more on volume growth and its incremental voice minutes were 1.8x higher than Airtel. Idea clearly focussed on volumes and opted to sacrifice voice rates for the same. Bharti changed approach more towards the last quarter with focus on subscriber net additions and attempted to chase volume growth. We see both telcos pursuing this approach for another 6 months or so post which we may see some focus on voice tariffs coming back.
Airtel seems more focused in ramping up data coverage and its incremental addition in 3G Node b was 2x versus Idea Cellular.
