Zomato has announced the acquisition of MaplePOS, a Web cloud-based point of sale product for restaurants. This product will be renamed as ZomatoBase. It is an Android-based POS system. It offers restaurants features such as menu, inventory management and a built in payment solution. As per Reuters, Zomato will start online ordering services in India with ~4000 restaurants in the immediate future and then take it to 10000 eventually (out of 60000 restaurant partners in India).
Through this solution, Zomato will now offer end-to-end tech solutions to restaurants, which will include menu management, inventory
management, recipe management, customer relationship management, and payment gateway integration. So far, Zomato had a product for consumers, and after this acquisition it will have a product for restaurants. BASE will be integrated with its consumer product over the next few months.
