3G penetration still below 20% (despite being in operation for atleast 4 years), it is natural to question the uptake of 4G even as telco operators rush to rollout 4G services. We believe that poor 3G uptake can be attributed to factors such as
1.) Perceptibly limited increase in speed from 2G to 3G following telco operators' unwillingness to invest in 3G networks; and
2.) Unavailability of affordable devices. These factors are unlikely to be a hurdle to 4G adoption as 4G speeds are perceptibly higher than 3G speeds and the hardware device ecosystem is gradually falling into place
Further, 4G data pricing is at par with 3G pricing ? thus driving users to adopt 4G network services.
