80% of Jio Users Consume Less than 1 GB / Day
« on: December 05, 2016, 12:45:56 PM »
Reliance Jio Infocomm 4G LTE network now serves ~52m subscribers (50m crossed in 83 days; ~0.6m daily addition) with ~80% of the subscribers using less than 1GB data per day. The company highlighted that ~20% of subscribers use disproportionate amount of data, and drag down the experience of others as Jio experienced congestion. Thus from Jan-01-2017, all users will be restricted to use only 1 GB / Day thus giving real super fast broadband experience.

The Jio network currently delivers ~4x the total data consumed on other operators put-together with average usage of R-Jio subscriber at 25-30x of peers.

Voice inter-connect issue has improved with call failure rates dropping to less than 20% as incremental points of interconnects have been provided by the incumbents.

After initial hiccups in customer on-boarding, the company had rolled out Aadhaar based paperless e-KYC, which enables SIM activation within 5 minutes. The company now enrols ~95% of additions via e-KYC across 0.2m outlets, which would be extended to 0.4m by March 2017.
