4G Smartphone Availability / Affordability Rising
« on: February 10, 2016, 10:06:17 AM »
4G Handset shipments are now at 57% of overall smartphone shipments, up over 5x since start of the year. In October 2015, 2G smartphone shipments declined to 4% of overall shipments while 3G shipments were at 39%. Availability of VoLTE handsets is also picking
up. Currently there are ~8 VoLTE enabled handsets available among sub Rs10000 category and ~15 among mid to high-end.

RJio's "LYF" handset brand has hit the Reliance Digital stores. We got to see two models at the store visit. Both the models have dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, VoLTE, VoWiFi and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. LYF Earth 1 model is priced at Rs 23,990 and LYF Water 1 is priced Rs14,999.

With multiple carriers investing in networks to roll out 3G/4G , multi-band low price handsets are set to see robust growth, in our view.
