How Reliance Jio Plans to Leverage Dark Fiber Network ?
« on: December 18, 2015, 03:51:05 PM »
Reliance Jio is expected to leverage its in-house content, acquired through controlling stakes in Network 18 and TV18, as part of its mobile offering. It has received a pan-India MSO license. R-Jio will be one of few companies that have both content and a distribution
platform. With this, RJio may hope to recover its fiber investment faster than peers. Overtime, R-Jio can exploit its fiber backbone to offer wholesale data to ISPs, high-speed broadband to SMEs, security solutions (CCTV), becoming a carrier for Internet of things and potentially a large player in cloud services.

RJio is planning fibre-to-home solutions, especially for triple-play services, we believe its 2300Mhz spectrum can be effectively utilised to provide home internet using fixed-wireless devices. We expect the packages for home internet to typically have large usage buckets (15-20GB and above). The 20Mhz TD-LTE spectrum has high data capacity and is well-suited for home-internet application.
