« on: March 26, 2016, 03:06:54 PM »
Airtel acquires Videocon's 1800MHz spectrum in six circles. Bharti entered into definitive agreement with Videocon Telecommunications to acquire Videocon's right to use 5MHz spectrum in 1800MHz band in each of six circles (Bihar, Haryana, M.P, U.P (East), U.P (West) and Gujarat) through spectrum trading route for a total consideration of Rs 44.3bn. Spectrum is valid upto Dec 18, 2032. Bharti would use this spectrum for LTE services. Separately, Idea Cellular has terminated agreement entered with Videocon Telecom to acquire right to use 5MHz spectrum in 1800MHz band in two circles Gujarat and U.P (West) for a consideration of Rs33.1bn

With this acquisition, Airtel's 4G LTE footprint coverage in 1800MHz spectrum would rise to 18 circles (from 12 circles) which contribute 93% to industry revenue.

Airtel's LTE spectrum footprint (including 2300MHz) coverage would inch up to 93.1% of its revenue and 93.9% of industry revenue. Airtel's spectrum holding market share would be 23.1% compared to 8.3% and 8.7% for Vodafone and Idea Cellular, respectively.
