Jio is more likely to focus on Phase 1 and 2 areas, where Dish TV has a limited presence. Historically, IPTV (likely distribution platform to be used by Jio) has failed to take off in India due to poor connectivity and slow response time. Even if the offering is compelling, we believe the impact is likely to be higher on cable operators.
Compared to other DTH operators, Dish TV has a slightly weaker subscriber profile due to its dominant presence in Phase 3 and 4 areas. Hence, the translation of price hikes into ARPU is more difficult. As far as bandwidth is concerned, Dish TV feels that the leading DTH players are fairly well placed.
