Idea's Mobile data footprint is now complete through mix of 3G and 4G. Individually, 3G covers 86% of its revenue base and 4G 94%. Bulk of the spectrum purchased has been in its primary revenue generating circles. The company now has 3-5 spectrum carriers for 4G and 4-7 carriers including 3G in 7 of the 8 circles where it is the market leader.
Idea has purchased capacity spectrum in the 2500MHz band. It claims that recent allocation of this band to Chinese telcos along with purchase by Idea and Vodafone should accelerate development of 4G ecosystem in the band. Ultra wide receivers ? single equipment
can be used for 1800 & 2100MHz or 2300 & 2500MHz bands and 2) Active infrastructure sharing ? fiber is already been shared and it is in talks for core equipment, for example BTS. Both should help lower capex needs.
