Data revenues for both Airtel and Idea fell for the second consecutive quarter, in contrast with 40%+ YoY growth a year ago; data revenues declined 18%/22% YoY for Airtel/Idea. Intense competitive pressures resulted in data pricing declining sequentially by
32.1%/27.7% for Bharti/Idea. Data prices have seen erosion of over 50% from a year ago level for both Bharti and Idea. At 57.4 mn/42.2 mn, total number of data subscribers for Airtel / Idea are still 8.5%/21.9% below their Sep-16 levels (when Jio announced the launch of its free services).
