Idea Cellular's management commentary in its Annual Report is optimistic.
Compared to potential of 15mbps per 3G BTS, Idea is currently achieving average 3.2mbps (1QFY16, based on taking 10 hours per day) across its portfolio. We expect this to go up to almost 8mbps by end-FY18.
Wireless data subscriber penetration of 26% offers significant upside potential. Idea?s 3G and 4G spectrum cover 87% of its revenue footprint. Idea highlighted that it would start offering LTE services from calendar year 2016 in a phased manner in addition to aggressive expansion of 3G network. It is working on offering its own ?Digital Services? related to information, entertainment, communication, utilities and API.
