Videocon Telenor Spectrum Deal Hits Roadblock
« on: January 08, 2016, 10:49:40 AM »
Reports indicate that Videocon plans to sell it's 4G spectrum to Telenor has been stalled. Telenor wants to buy spectrum in 2 more circles, which Videocon is reluctant to include in the deal. The four circles that Telenor wants as part of the deal are UP (East), MP, Bihar and Haryana. Videocon, on it?s part, want to retain MP and Haryana as they are growing extremely well in these regions.

Post the Idea deal which closed at INR 33.1bn, it is unlikely Videocon will be in a desperate hurry to exit assets, especially attractive ones. Sources indicate that only if they receive a valuation of ~INR 40-50bn will Videocon consider selling spectrum in MP and Haryana where they have a market share of ~5.25% and ~9.25%, respectively.
