Facebook Mobile App Revenue Hit 80%

Facebook Mobile ad revenue grew 81% yoy represented 80% of total ad revenue which compares to 72% yoy growth in the prior period, 74% growth in 2Q15 and 83% in 1Q15. On a sequential basis, mobile ad revenue grew 34% yoy versus the consensus view of 22% and which compares to 27% qoq growth in 4Q14.

CPMs increased 21% yoy driven once again by the ongoing shift towards mobile and increasing adoption of video. We note that his quarter marked the full anniversary of the changes to the desktop user experience in 3Q14, when Facebook significantly reduced the number of ads being seen on the right hand rail. With the anniversary, 3Q15 was the last quarter where we would see such material deltas between both.

Desktop Revenue Including both newsfeed and right hand rail, desktop revenue was flat yoy at $1.1bn versus down 8% yoy in 3Q15.
