Advantages of Dual Cameras and its Applications
« on: February 03, 2016, 11:17:46 AM »
The advent of dual-lens cameras will likely alter camera performance in two ways. First, it will enable the phone to take 3D pictures and measure distances to subjects. Although we think 3D pictures will mainly be an amusement, we feel the range-finding function
could open up entirely new applications for smartphones, enabling the development of various services. Combined with GPS, we think the technology can be used for a variety of automation and monitoring functions in areas like distribution and warehousing and on construction sites.

In terms of entertainment, we see the possibility for orienteering games using electronic maps and actual fields of view using GPS and dual-lens camera-based distance measuring. One more advantage is the improvement in basic camera functions. By setting two sensors to work as one large sensor, light-condensing capacity is doubled, and resolution, sensitivity, and color reproducibility improves.
