Blackberry 10 Traction to Drive RIM’s Next Leg

The RIM Management provided several incremental updates following the February / March launch and subsequent global rollout of BB10, including 1mn units of BB10 sell-in in the first month of availability. BB10 has received technical acceptance at 223 carriers and has launched on 60 carriers across 40 countries, with 30 more countries forthcoming. 55% of Z10 customers are coming from other platforms, 4,600 companies in North America have registered for BlackBerry’s Ready program and 2,300 companies have already completed the three Ready training programs.

BB10 now has over 100k apps, up from 70k at launch 2 months ago, and 70% of those are native to BB10, the BlackBerry App World is generating comparable revenue per user as other leading platforms. The Q10 keyboard product is still expected in April, began lab entry in February and is now in testing with over 40 carriers in 20 countries.

BB10 products will continue to roll out during the year, with mid-tier products expected around mid fiscal-year, and about two thirds to three-fourths of BB10 units that have been shipped into the channel have been sold through to customers to date, and the company has been ramping production.
