Reliance Jio Infocomm & Reliance Communications enter $2.5 Bn Tower Sharing Agreement

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd and Reliance Communications Ltd. today announced the signing of a definitive agreement worth over $2.5 Bn over the Lifetime of the agreement.

RCom will offer its 45,000 Towers to Reliance Jio Infocomm to roll-out its 4G LTE Network. In our Previous Article we had raised the issue of Suitability of Reliance Communications towers for Reliance Jio 4G. Our doubt is a reality as the management of Reliance Jio Infocomm confirms in the press release as below,

The agreement provides for joint working arrangements to configure the scope of additional towers to be built at new locations to ensure deep penetration and seamless delivery of next generation services.

Since Reliance jIo has 2.3GHz spectrum, Tower heights have to be raised to ensure deep penetration of signals or they’ll have to install more number of towers.

This is Reliance Jio Infocomm’s second agreement with Reliance Communications, the first being signed in April on sharing inter-city Optical Network Infrastructure.
